Independence - Culture
|
2500 years ago these people developed the Independence I culture, which
settled as far as Northeastern Greenland. They lived from hunting on the
ice, at its edge, or inland. The principal food source was the caribou,
which provided meat, bones, and leather. Seals and fishing provided an auxiliary
source. Tools for the hunt were harpoon, fishing gear, as well as bow and
arrow.
